What is OSA?
Tasmanian archives and heritage (external link) provides advice about accessing Tasmanian Archives.
Our Office of the State Archivist (OSA) is a small team that supports state and local government, government business enterprises (GBE), state owned companies and University of Tasmania (UTAS) in meeting their accountability requirements under the Archives Act 1983, including:
- Providing a framework of policy and advice to guide the creation, retention, management and access of government records in Tasmania.
- Developing and issuing Records Disposal Schedules to ensure that records of continuing value to the public and the government are kept and are accessible for appropriate lengths of time.
- Collaborating with Tasmanian Government agencies to provide and support a whole-of-government Information Management Strategy.
We have extensive information and resources available to agencies, and encourage you to contact us with any enquiries at the Office of the State Archivist.
